Blog 2 :
"Hope is a good thing ... maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies." - Shawshank Redemption. As a family, we love stories. And what better way to listen to stories that to watch them on a screen. Our parents never taught us the Ramayana or the Mahabharata. But they used their love for movies to teach us some central tenets in life. They made us watch three movies each with an important lesson. And this blog is about the first tenet - hope.
So the first movie we watched was Shawshank Redemption. Maybe they loved this movie because they experienced what it meant to be Indian immigrants. Maybe they needed 'hope' when they learnt that they are going to be blessed with two rugrats :). We dont know. What we did learn from the movie was that change is constant. Life might seem desolate, but if we are patient enough, life would get better. We dont understand how all this happens, and we have asked our parents about this several times and apparently they dont either, but they keep muttering that if you hope for something to happen, the universe aligns to make it happen. Whoa, thats powerful. And trust me, we are still scratching our heads. But it works.
So what are we hoping for? We are hoping to reach our first milestone - to raise Rs. 25,000 by selling our products. Now our daddy keeps complaining that we would need to pay taxes since we are not an NGO. Whatever. We need to reach a profit of Rs. 25,000 (around $300) after taxes which would enable us to make our first contribution. Now our mommy will help us connect to a NICU who would be kind enough to help us make this contribution - she is a doctor, you see.
So please please please, we hope you help us reach this milestone. You are not doing this for us. You are doing this for a NICU which will appreciate (there we go again with difficult spellings) somewhere. In the meantime, watch this space for the next tenet.
